The 6 Best Very Own-Label Buys for 2026

Very is an online department store with no shops of its own, so everything arrives by parcel and goes back the same way. Most of what it sells is other people’s brands, from Nike to Ninja, but it also has its own label, The Very Collection, which now covers clothes, bedding and furniture and is where its prices are sharpest.

This guide picks six Very Collection products and reads their reviews lowest first. The headline advice: size with care, because the fit complaints are consistent; use the free returns, which are generous; and think hard before paying through the Very Pay credit account rather than a debit card.

The Very Collection Straight Leg Jean With Stretch

A high-rise, dark-wash straight jean in cotton with a little stretch, in sizes 8 to 24, and one of the most-reviewed pieces in Very’s own range.

Jeans are where an own label proves itself, and these are a fair test. They are high-rise, five-pocket and straight-cut, in 98% cotton and 2% elastane, with a 29-inch inside leg listed on the page and sizes from 8 to 24. Most reviewers like the deep colour and the soft stretch, and the overall rating is good for something this cheap.

The complaints are almost all about cut. Several reviewers say the leg is wider than the photo suggests, closer to a semi-wide than a straight jean, and that the sizing runs large: a size 14 that fitted like a 16, a 12 that was baggy. Others found them longer than the stated length and wished for a short option, which Very does not offer on this style. If you sit between sizes, order the smaller.

Good for you if

  • You want a dark, soft jean for under £30
  • You like a relaxed leg rather than a skinny one

Not for you if

  • You are under 5ft 5in and want them to fit with flats
  • You want rigid, old-fashioned denim

The Very Collection Boys 2 Pack Pull-On Stain-Proof School Trousers

School uniform is the quiet strength of Very’s own label. This two-pack has a fully elasticated waist, a pressed front crease and a stain-proof finish on a polyester and viscose fabric made partly from recycled fibres. It is machine washable. Better still, Very gives uniform a 100-day satisfaction guarantee: send the whole pack back within 100 days for a full refund, which is far longer than its usual 28 days.

Most parents rate them highly. The low reviews pick out weak stitching, with seams splitting at the seat or hems dropping after a wash, and a handful say the elastic went within a term. Sizing is uneven too: older boys found the 15-16 years small, and one parent noticed the two pairs in a pack fitted differently. There are no adjustable waist tabs.

Good for you if

  • Your child cannot manage a zip and button yet
  • You want two pairs for the price of one elsewhere

Not for you if

  • Your child is slim-waisted and needs adjustable tabs
  • You need trousers to last a full year of football

The Very Collection Cotton Rich Knitted Crew Neck Jumper

A men’s cotton-rich crew neck in navy, black, charcoal and more, which was on sale below its £22 price when we checked.

Very’s men’s range is thinner than its women’s, but plain knitwear is a reliable corner of it. This crew neck is 80% cotton and 20% nylon, regular fit, from S to 3XL, and machine washable. Very’s own care note says to fold rather than hang it, which tells you something about how the knit behaves.

The reviews are positive but few, so weigh them lightly. Buyers like the finish and the price and several bought more than one colour. The weakness is in what they praise: one reviewer describes the knit as thin, which suits it for wearing under a coat or in an office, not as a winter layer. One owner’s praise that it “doesn’t shrink that much” is not quite a promise that it won’t. Do not expect a wool jumper’s warmth from a cotton and nylon mix.

Good for you if

  • You want a smart, plain layer for an office
  • You prefer a jumper you can machine wash

Not for you if

  • You need real warmth outdoors
  • You want plenty of reviews before buying
4Best for cold commutes

The Very Collection Longline Sorona Padded Coat

A long padded coat is the most useful thing Very’s own label makes for winter, and this one is the safer of two similar styles. It reaches the knee, has a fixed hood, a zip, side pockets and a polyester shell, lining and padding, in sizes 8 to 24, and it goes in the washing machine.

We would choose it over its sister, the Longline Sorona Padded Coat With Pull Out Hood, because that coat’s one- and two-star reviews are dominated by the hood: too small to go over a head, more collar than hood, or missing altogether. This version is newer and had only three reviews when we checked, all positive, so its weakness is the thin evidence. The page makes no waterproof claim either, so it is a coat for cold, not for heavy rain.

Good for you if

  • You want a long, warm coat for under £100
  • You will wash it at home rather than dry clean

Not for you if

  • You need a waterproof coat
  • You like a long track record of reviews

The Very Collection Duck Feather and Down 13.5 Tog Duvet

If you like a natural filling but not a natural-filling price, this is Very’s answer. The cover is 233 thread count cotton percale, the fill is 85% duck feather and 15% duck down, and it is machine washable. It also comes in 10.5 and 15 tog. Oddly, the page copy still calls it Everyday Collection, a sign of how often Very has renamed its own labels.

The reviews are split, and the split is predictable. Many of the one-star reviews describe feathers poking through the cover and the duvet cover on top, which is a feather duvet’s classic fault at this level of down. Others say the filling shifts between channels, and a couple found the stitching between pockets coming away within months.

Good for you if

  • You want feather warmth on a budget
  • Your bedroom is cold in winter

Not for you if

  • Stray quills will keep you awake
  • You have a feather allergy

Large sofas are where Very undercuts the furniture specialists hardest. The Dury is 242cm wide, 90cm deep, with a 52cm seat height, S-type springs, foam seat cushions and fibre-filled backs, in a textured woven polyester. It comes part assembled, and a reviewer explains the clever bit: the four-seater arrives in two sections, which makes narrow doorways less of a worry. Free fabric swatches are available by email before you buy.

Most reviews are five stars, but the critical ones agree with each other. The seat is firm, the arms feel like wood under thin padding, and the back cushions sit low enough to give one owner neck ache. Another found the foam softened quickly, and two had trouble with the screws for the feet. The cushion covers cannot be removed for washing.

Good for you if

  • You need four seats for well under £1,000
  • Your hallway or stairs are tight

Not for you if

  • You want a deep, soft sofa to sink into
  • You need washable cushion covers

Why buy from Very?

Very’s argument is convenience at scale. It sells clothes, school uniform, bedding, sofas and appliances in one basket, delivers free over £75, sends parcels to InPost lockers, and makes standard returns free under a 28-day approval guarantee. Its own label is cheap and covers more of the home than most fashion rivals.

Rivals win in specific places. Marks & Spencer is more consistent on fit, Dunelm has better bedding and showrooms for sofas, and Argos is faster if you need something today. Very’s weak spot is fulfilment. Its Trustpilot score was 3.9 from a very large number of reviews when we checked, and the newest one-star reviews describe wrong items in parcels, packages left in the rain, damaged large appliances and slow refunds. Its credit account is the other caution: Very Pay’s representative rate was 44.9% APR.

Before you buy: how to pick

1Look for The Very Collection label

Very’s search mixes its own label with branded stock. The own-label items carry “The Very Collection” at the start of the product name, and some older pages still say Very Home, V by Very or Everyday Collection. These are the lines where Very sets the price, so they are where it can undercut rivals. Branded items such as Levi’s or Superdry are usually available elsewhere for the same or less.

2Read the fit slider, not just the label

Every Very own-label clothing page has a “Size & Fit” note, usually “true to size”, and reviews carry a fit score from comes-up-small to comes-up-big. The two often disagree. The jeans in this guide say true to size, yet reviewers repeatedly found them big. Read the fit score and three or four low reviews before choosing a size, and check the stated inside leg.

3Treat Very Pay as credit, because it is

Very pushes its own account on every product page: Take 3, monthly payments and Buy Now Pay Later for six or twelve months on bigger orders. Buy Now Pay Later charges a lump sum of interest, calculated from the order date and compounded daily, if the balance is not cleared in time. If a debit card will do, use it. This is not financial advice; read the terms before applying.

4Plan big deliveries carefully

Large items such as the Dury sofa travel by a separate service, charged per item from £8.99 to £34.99 for standard delivery and more for express or next day. Some come straight from the supplier, with a carrier calling to agree a date. Measure doorways against the packaged dimensions printed on the page, and inspect the item before the driver leaves.

The practical stuff

Delivery
Standard delivery is free on orders of £75 or more and £3.99 below that, usually in 2 to 4 days. Next day and nominated day cost £5.99. Large items are charged separately on each product page. Read October 2026
Click and collect
Free on orders of £30 or more, £3 below, usually in 2 to 3 days, to shops or InPost lockers. Locker parcels must be collected within three days. Read October 2026
Returns
Free under a 28-day approval guarantee, if items are complete, unused and in original packaging; refunds can take up to 14 days. Unused gifts bought 1 October to 10 December 2026 can go back until 8 January 2027. Read October 2026
School uniform
Very’s own-label uniform has a 100-day satisfaction guarantee: return the complete pack within 100 days for a full refund. Footwear is excluded. Read October 2026
Very Pay
Very’s credit account showed a representative 44.9% APR variable. Buy Now Pay Later adds a lump sum of compound interest if the balance is not paid by the end of the period. Read October 2026

FAQs

Is The Very Collection the same as V by Very?

In practice, yes. Very’s own label has carried several names over the years, including V by Very, Very Home and Everyday Collection, and you will still see the older names in search filters and product descriptions. The current label is The Very Collection, which Very describes as exclusive to it. It covers women’s, men’s and children’s clothes, bedding and furniture.

Are Very returns really free?

For standard items, yes, under the 28-day approval guarantee, and the returns process no longer needs a printer. The conditions are the catch: items must be unused, complete and in their original packaging, with security tags on. One coat reviewer in this guide kept a coat she was unhappy with because she had already removed the label. Try clothes on before cutting anything off.

Do I have to pay with Very Pay?

No. The product pages show credit options prominently, including Take 3 and Buy Now Pay Later, and these are a regulated credit account with a high variable rate. Paying in full by debit card avoids interest entirely. If you do apply, read how Buy Now Pay Later interest is calculated first.

Other brands to consider

  • Marks & Spencer is more consistent on fit and fabric for school uniform and knitwear, with shops for returns.
  • Argos is faster for urgent buys, with same-day delivery and returns to any store.
  • Dunelm has a stronger range of duvets and sofas, with showrooms to sit on them first.
