Privacy
What the site records, which is very little, and what we do with letters.
The Journal collects as little as it can get away with. This page sets out what that amounts to.
What the site records
The web server keeps ordinary access logs: the address your connection comes from, the page requested, the time, and the browser identification string your software sends. These are kept for routine maintenance and security and are deleted on a rolling basis. The site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics scripts.
Letters
If you write to us through the contact page, we keep your name, your email address and your message so that we can read and answer it. The message is sent on to the editorial desk by email and a copy is kept in a log on our server, outside the web root, for as long as it is useful for the correspondence and then deleted. We do not add you to any list and we do not pass your details to anyone else.
Outbound links
Links to brands pass through an address on this site before going on to the brand. We do not record who follows them. The brand’s own website will have its own privacy notice, which we have no control over, and if the Journal has joined that brand’s affiliate programme the brand may be told that a visitor came from here. The disclosure page has more.
Fonts
The typefaces are served by Google Fonts, which means your browser requests them from Google’s servers and Google will see the request. If you would rather it did not, a content blocker will stop the request and your browser will fall back to a system serif. The pages will still read perfectly well.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EU you have the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Write to contact@thechoicejournal.com and we will answer within a month.
