Best Gymshark Gym Clothes 2026: The 7 We'd Buy

Seven Gymshark buys worth the money, from £22 training shorts to the Vital leggings with more than five thousand reviews, plus the fabric and sizing details the product pages bury and the after-sales catches.

Gymshark started in Solihull and now sells gym kit to a very large share of Britain’s teenagers and a good many of their parents. It suits people who train several times a week and want clothes cut for lifting and classes rather than for a catwalk, at prices below Sweaty Betty and Lululemon.

This guide picks seven things from the current UK range: leggings, shorts, a sports bra, two Crest basics and the holdall, plus one accessory we would leave on the shelf. The headline advice: read the composition line before the name, size up on anything fitted, and expect to deal with a chat assistant rather than a person if an order goes wrong.

The picks, one by one

1Best overall

Vital Regular Leggings

The high-waisted knitted legging that made Gymshark’s name, backed by more reviews than anything else in the women’s range.

Vital is the pair Gymshark pitches for everything at once, from weights to circuits, and the reviews broadly agree. They are knitted in one piece from 93% nylon and 7% elastane, with a ribbed waistband, mesh dots for ventilation and the marl pattern that helps hide sweat. Sizes run from XXS to XXL, and a Tall length sits alongside the Regular. The black marl was £45 when we checked; several other colours were reduced.

The lowest-rated reviews return to one problem: sheerness. A run of one-star buyers say the fabric is see-through when stretched, especially in pinks and lighter shades, and a few long-time customers think it has thinned. Others found the waistband tight while the leg sat loose, with no tummy control. Do a squat in front of a mirror before you take the tags off.

Yes, if

  • You want one pair for most kinds of training
  • You like a high waist and a marl that hides sweat

No, if

  • You want firm compression around the stomach
  • You are set on a pale colour for heavy squats

Light polyester training shorts with a drawcord and side pockets, and well over a thousand reviews behind them.

The Arrival shorts are the cheapest way into Gymshark’s men’s range and one of its steadiest sellers. They are 100% polyester, slim in the leg, with a 5-inch inseam on a medium, an adjustable drawcord and open side pockets. Sizes go from XS to 3XL, and there is a 7-inch version for anyone who wants more cover.

At £22 the compromises are in the fabric. The one- and two-star reviews describe it as thin, unlined and, in white, see-through, and several report seams opening at the back or crotch after squats or a first wash. One returning buyer says the cut has changed and now sits looser around the thigh. Buy two in dark colours and treat them as hard-working basics rather than heirlooms.

Yes, if

  • You want cheap, light shorts for the gym or a run
  • You like pockets and a drawcord you can adjust

No, if

  • You squat heavy and want a sturdier seam
  • You want a built-in liner
3Best for HIIT classes

Lightweight High Support Sports Bra

A racerback high-support bra with a mesh back and built-in foam pads that rates well on fit but divides buyers on support.

Gymshark sells a lot of sports bras, and this is the high-support one with the most reviews. It is 76% nylon and 24% elastane, with a racerback, a breathable mesh panel across the back, contouring under the bust and built-in foam pads. It comes in XXS to XXL and is pitched at HIIT-style training.

Two complaints repeat in the lowest-rated reviews. The first is fit: it is snug under the bust, short on stretch and a struggle to pull over the head, so plenty of buyers size up. The second is support. Some runners say it does not stop bounce, and one compares it to a light-support bra. A recent reviewer also found the seams rough enough to rub, and another found pulls in the fabric after washing. Treat it as a class bra and buy a dedicated running bra for long miles.

Yes, if

  • You do classes, circuits or skipping
  • You like a racerback and a mesh back panel

No, if

  • You need a running bra for a large bust
  • You find over-the-head bras hard to get on
4Best for rest days

Crest Hoodie

A slim-fit cotton-rich hoodie with a brushed fleece back, and the best-rated of the Gymshark basics we read.

Crest is Gymshark’s plain range, and the hoodie is its most popular piece, with an average above four and a half stars from more than seven hundred reviews when we checked. It is 80% cotton and 20% recycled polyester at 285gsm, brushed inside, with an embroidered logo, a drawcord hood and open side pockets. Sizes run from XS to 3XL.

The thing to know is that it is cut slim, and the low-rated reviews say so in different ways: an XL that was still tight, sleeves too narrow and too long, and a body long enough on one small buyer to look “like a mini dress”. Size up if you want room for a T-shirt underneath. A handful of older reviews mention loose threads at the cuffs and fabric shedding inside.

Yes, if

  • You want a warm, plain hoodie for the gym and the sofa
  • You like a fitted rather than boxy shape

No, if

  • You want an oversized fit; Gymshark sells a separate one
5Best for low-impact days

Training Straight Leg Regular Leggings

A light, high-waisted straight-leg legging that works in and out of the gym, as long as you are tall enough for it.

Straight-leg leggings are the shape Gymshark sells for days that are not leg day, and this is the most affordable of them. They are 78% polyester and 22% elastane, high-waisted with a curved back waistband, and light enough to wear on a walk or a flight. Sizes go from XXS to XXL.

Length is the main complaint. Several reviewers between 5ft 4in and 5ft 6in say the Regular pools at the ankle and the waistband sits unusually high, and one found the leg more flared than straight. Others call the fabric thin, sheer when stretched, and too soft for squats. With fewer than a hundred reviews to go on, this is a smaller body of evidence than for Vital, but the pattern is consistent: keep them for low-impact days.

Yes, if

  • You want leggings to wear out of the gym
  • You are tall enough for a long Regular length

No, if

  • You are under about 5ft 5in
  • You want a squat-proof pair

Gymshark’s men’s T-shirt rail is huge and confusing, with similar names hiding very different fabrics. The Crest is the easy one. It is 100% cotton at 180gsm, regular rather than slim in fit, with a small embroidered logo, in sizes XS to 3XL. It carries more than five hundred reviews and an average just above four stars.

That average hides a stubborn tail of one-star reviews, and they are about how the cotton behaves in the wash. Buyers report shrinking after one wash, a neck that loses its shape within months, fading, and in a couple of cases small holes after a few washes. Wash it cool and inside out, skip the tumble dryer, and if you sweat heavily, choose a polyester training tee instead.

Yes, if

  • You want a plain cotton tee for rest days
  • You prefer a regular fit to a muscle fit

No, if

  • You want a technical shirt for hard sessions

Gift-buying for someone who trains is easier with a bag than with clothes in an unknown size, and the small Everyday Holdall is one of the best-rated bags Gymshark sells. It measures 47cm long, 20cm high and 22cm wide, roughly 34 litres, with a wet pocket for kit, slip pockets, a 20cm shoe tunnel, padded handles, a shoulder strap and YKK zips. It is wipe-clean only.

The weak point is the shoulder strap. A striking number of one-star reviews describe the clip or buckle snapping within weeks, and one buyer had it break again on the replacement. Others say the shoe tunnel is too small for larger trainers and that newer bags feel thinner than the originals. Carry it by the handles when it is heavy.

Yes, if

  • You want a gift that needs no size
  • You carry work things and gym kit together

No, if

  • You wear large, chunky trainers
  • You carry heavy loads on the shoulder strap

Working out which one is yours

1Read the fabric, not the range name

Gymshark names its ranges like football chants (Arrival, Crest, Power, Vital) and the names tell you little. The Crest T-Shirt is all cotton; the Arrival is polyester; the Lightweight bra is nearly a quarter elastane. Cotton is softer but shrinks and holds sweat, while nylon and polyester knits dry fast and resist stretching out. The composition sits under Materials & Care on every product page, and it is the most useful line there.

2Size up on anything fitted

Across the leggings, bra, hoodie and T-shirt in this guide, the most common complaint in the low-rated reviews is that things run small or tight. Each product page gives the model’s height and the size worn, which is a better guide than the label. If you are between sizes, go up, and use the free size exchange if you guess wrong. Leggings also come in Regular and Tall lengths in some ranges.

3Check opacity before you train

See-through fabric is the single biggest theme in the one-star leggings reviews, and it shows up on shorts and white T-shirts too. It is worse in light colours and thin knits. Try anything new with a deep squat in good light while the tags are still on: returns need items unworn and unwashed, and a cut-out care label voids the return.

Gymshark against the rest

Gymshark’s strength is breadth at a price. It sells leggings in more fabrics, rises and lengths than most rivals, cuts men’s kit for people who lift, and shows the composition, the model’s height and a large pile of reviews on every product page. Standard delivery is cheap, returns from the UK mainland are free, and the sign-up and student discounts come round constantly.

Rivals win on service and finish. Sweaty Betty costs more but feels more grown-up, Lululemon is stronger for running and yoga, and Marks & Spencer’s Goodmove range is cheaper with a shop to take it back to. Gymshark has no phone line, and its Trustpilot score was 3.5 when we checked; the recent one-star reviews are dominated by slow refunds, lost parcels and frustration with the AI chat.

What we'd skip

Shaker Bottle

A £10 600ml shaker with a metal mixer, hand-wash only, and the worst-rated product we found on the site: below two and a half stars, with nearly half of its reviews at one star. The complaints are leaks, a rubber seal that falls out and a handle that snaps. Bottles cannot be returned for hygiene reasons, so a dud is yours to keep.

FAQs

Are Gymshark leggings squat-proof?

Some are, some are not, and colour matters as much as range. Vital has thousands of good reviews, but its one-star reviews are full of complaints about sheerness in lighter colours, and the Training Straight Leg pair is described by several reviewers as too thin for squats. Dark colours and thicker knits are the safer bet. Check in a mirror, with a deep squat, before you remove the tags.

Can I phone Gymshark customer service?

No. Gymshark’s contact page says plainly that it does not run a call centre. Support is by chat, which is open 24/7 and starts with an AI agent, or by email, with replies promised in 24 to 48 hours. Gymshark asks you to open one conversation per problem and keep your order number, which starts #UK, to hand. Recent Trustpilot complaints focus on exactly this route.

How long do Gymshark refunds take?

Longer than many shoppers expect. For UK returns, Gymshark allows up to 11 working days for transit and processing, then says a refund can take up to 7 days to appear once processed. That is close to three weeks in the worst case, and it matches the slow-refund complaints on Trustpilot. Keep your proof of postage until the money arrives.

Does Gymshark have a discount code?

Usually there is one available to you. When we checked in October 2026 the UK site offered 15% off a first order for email sign-ups, 12% for students through Student Beans, 10% with a Blue Light Card and £10 for referring a friend. Athletes’ codes give 10%, and loyalty members get a 15% birthday code that works on full-price items only.

Other brands to consider

  • Sweaty Betty makes the dearer, more grown-up version of the same leggings, with a calmer shop and more support staff.
  • Lululemon costs more again and is better for running and yoga than for the lifting kit where Gymshark is strongest.
  • Marks & Spencer sells Goodmove gym basics for less, with shops to try them on and take them back to.
