Best ProCook Cookware 2026: The 6 We'd Buy

Six ProCook buys worth your money, from a £35 steel frying pan to a 25-year cast iron casserole, with the guarantee small print, the sticking complaints and the ‘typical price’ habit explained before you order.

ProCook designs and sells only its own cookware, knives and tableware, through its website and around 80 shops of its own. That makes it the obvious stop for anyone furnishing a first proper kitchen, or replacing tired non-stick with pans built to last, without paying heritage-brand prices.

This guide picks six things from the current UK range and leans hard towards uncoated stainless steel and enamelled cast iron, because that is where the long guarantees mean most. The headline advice: ignore the struck-through ‘typical price’, judge the real one, and expect a short learning curve if you have only ever cooked on non-stick. Nearly every low review of the steel pans says the same thing: food stuck.

This is the set we would send most readers to first. You get 14, 16 and 18cm saucepans, a 20cm stockpot, a 24cm shallow casserole and a 24cm frying pan, all in 18/10 stainless steel on a 7mm bonded base, with glass lids. The whole range works on every hob including induction, goes in the oven to 260C and in the dishwasher, and carries ProCook’s 25-year guarantee. Bought separately the pieces cost £295.

The weaknesses are the ones uncoated steel always has. ProCook’s own footnote says the CoolTouch handles get hot in the oven or over a big gas flame, and the care notes ask for more oil than non-stick needs. The few low ratings on the product page come from buyers who found food sticking and the steel staining. Preheat the pan before the oil goes in and most of that goes away.

Pick it if

  • You want one purchase to cover nearly every hob job
  • You have an induction hob and want pans that will outlast it

Pass if

  • You only want to cook eggs without oil
  • You need lightweight pans; the casserole alone is over 2kg

Gourmet Stainless Steel Frying Pan Uncoated 24cm

If you are not sure you will get on with uncoated steel, spend £35 finding out rather than £250. This 24cm pan is 18/10 stainless steel with riveted silicone stay-cool handles, works on induction, gas, electric and ceramic hobs, and is oven safe to 260C and dishwasher safe. It weighs a little over a kilo, which makes it easy to toss.

Two things separate it from the Professional range above. The guarantee is 10 years rather than 25, and it is not listed for solid-fuel hobs. The complaints are the usual steel ones, put more bluntly: one buyer wrote that everything sticks no matter what, another that ingredients stick, and a recent reviewer burned it on a gas hob. Preheat it, use enough oil and keep the flame inside the base.

Pick it if

  • You want to learn steel cooking without buying a set
  • You sear, brown and deglaze more than you fry eggs

Pass if

  • You cook on a solid-fuel range
  • You want food to slide off with no technique
3Best for slow cooking

Cast Iron Casserole Dish Sage Green 24cm / 4.7L Round

A 4.7-litre enamelled cast iron casserole with a self-basting lid and the same 25-year guarantee as the steel, for a fraction of a French pot’s price.

ProCook’s casseroles do the job of the famous French ones, and the 24cm round is the size we would choose: 4.7 litres, enamelled inside and out, with a self-basting lid. It works on every hob including induction and solid fuel, goes in the oven to 260C and, like the steel pans, carries 25 years of guarantee. The sage green also comes in cream, and the range runs to burgundy, ice blue, thyme green and a graduated red.

Its weakness is printed in the specification: it weighs 5.2kg before you put anything in it, and the dishwasher is not recommended. The reviews we read for this pot were uniformly happy; the one complaint in the wider casserole range came from a buyer surprised that the enamel is not non-stick. It is not, so brown in oil and soak rather than scrub.

Pick it if

  • You batch-cook stews, braises or no-knead bread
  • You want cast iron without a heritage-brand price

Pass if

  • Lifting a heavy, hot pot is a struggle
  • Everything you own has to go in the dishwasher

Trustpilot reviewers keep praising ProCook’s shop staff for their advice, and a knife block is where that help is most useful. You get a 9cm paring knife, a 12.5cm utility knife, a 15.5cm chef’s knife and 25cm bread and carving knives in a small American oak block. The blades are X50CrMoV15, the workhorse German steel, with triple-rivet handles and a 25-year guarantee on the knives.

Read the numbers before you buy. The page gives the hardness as 55±2 HRC, which means a tough blade that is easy to sharpen but needs honing more often than harder Japanese steel. The chef’s knife is 15.5cm, short for anyone used to a 20cm blade. None of it is dishwasher safe, and knife orders need age verification before they ship. One recent Trustpilot reviewer’s knife block arrived damaged.

Pick it if

  • You want a matched set that covers bread, carving and prep
  • You will hone your knives every week or two

Pass if

  • You want a long 20cm chef’s knife as the main blade
  • You need knives delivered tomorrow without an age check

Elite Tri-Ply Frying Pan Set Uncoated 3 Piece

Three frying pans in 3mm tri-ply steel with an aluminium core and welded, rivet-free handles: ProCook’s best steel, for people who fry a lot.

Elite Tri-Ply is a step up from the Professional range: an aluminium core sandwiched in 18/10 steel all the way up the sides, 3mm thick, with handles welded on rather than riveted, so there is nothing inside the pan to trap food. The set gives you 22, 26 and 30cm pans; the larger ones have a helper handle. All hobs, oven to 260C, dishwasher safe, 25-year guarantee. Bought separately the three cost £210.

The reviews are mostly glowing, with one reviewer rating them above Zwilling. The criticisms are specific. Two buyers found food sticks and the pans hard to clean, one called them heavy, and another found that standard ProCook lids are about 2mm out, so even a 20cm lid will not fit. No lids come in the set.

Pick it if

  • You fry or sear most days and want even heat to the edge
  • You like a smooth, rivet-free inside to clean

Pass if

  • You expect lids to be included or to fit from your other pans

ProCook’s tableware is a smaller side of the shop, and the Oslo set is the one we would start with. You get four each of 28cm dinner plates, 22cm side plates, pasta bowls and cereal bowls in an oatmeal reactive glaze, dishwasher and microwave safe and oven safe to 120C, which is plate-warming rather than cooking. The ‘typical price’ printed beside the £99 is £279, a gap worth treating with scepticism.

Owners like the look and the weight. The lower ratings describe the reactive glaze doing exactly what the page warns, but more than they wanted: glaze colour varying between batches, and bowls that came noticeably misshapen. Two found the rimmed plates a tight fit in their dishwasher or draining rack. The guarantee is one year.

Pick it if

  • You like handmade-looking stoneware with some variation
  • You want a complete everyday set in one box

Pass if

  • You want every plate to match exactly
  • Your dishwasher slots are narrow; check the rim first

Why buy from ProCook?

ProCook’s argument is that it cuts out the middleman: it designs its own range, has it made, and sells it only on its own website and in its own shops. On uncoated steel and cast iron that works. You get specifications close to the heritage names, a 25-year guarantee and staff who know the range because it is the only one they sell. Its Trustpilot score was 4.8 from over 190,000 reviews when we read it, though the company invites every customer to review.

Rivals win on other ground. Le Creuset has more colours, resale value and decades of reputation for several times the outlay. Lakeland sells other brands beside its own and a far gentler returns promise. And ProCook’s non-stick is its weak spot: the guarantee excludes the scratches, discolouration and overheating that finish coated pans off, and recent one-star reviews include a coated set that failed, was exchanged, and failed again.

Before you buy: how to pick

1Professional, Gourmet or Elite steel

ProCook sells three tiers of steel cookware, and the names do not make the difference obvious. Gourmet is the cheapest, with silicone handles and a 10-year guarantee. Professional has steel handles, a thick bonded base, a 25-year guarantee and works on solid-fuel ranges. Elite Tri-Ply wraps an aluminium core up the sides of the pan for more even heat. For most kitchens Professional is the sweet spot; Elite is for people who fry a lot.

2Check ‘uncoated’ in the product name

Several steel pans have near-identical names with and without a coating. The frying pan listing shows Professional pans marked Uncoated beside versions with non-stick or ceramic linings at the same price. The guarantee covers the pan but excludes scratches, discolouration and overheating, which is how coatings die. If the long guarantee is why you are buying, make sure the word Uncoated is in the title.

3Read the typical price as marketing

Every product page sets the selling price beside a ‘typical price’, which ProCook explains is what similar products from unnamed leading brands cost. It is a comparison figure, not a was-price. The Oslo dinner set shows £99 against a typical £279; the steel set £250 against £399. Judge the actual price against rivals you can name, and note that sets do save money against buying the pieces separately.

4Learn to cook on steel before you judge it

Most low ratings of ProCook’s uncoated pans say food stuck. The care notes on the product pages explain why: preheat the pan, use more oil than you would with non-stick, pick oils with a high smoke point, and avoid low-fat sprays on high heat because they leave a film that is very hard to remove. On induction, turn the heat down once the pan is hot; ProCook says boost settings can damage pans.

Questions people ask

Is ProCook as good as Le Creuset?

For enamelled cast iron, close enough for most cooks. ProCook’s 24cm round casserole is enamelled inside and out, oven safe to 260C and guaranteed for 25 years, at a fraction of the French price. What you give up is the colour range, the resale value and the name. If you want a pot to pass on, Le Creuset still has the edge; if you want one to cook in, ProCook’s does the job.

Why does food stick to my ProCook stainless steel pans?

Usually because the pan was not hot enough, or there was too little oil. ProCook’s own care notes say uncoated steel needs more oil than non-stick, recommend oils with a high smoke point, and warn against low-fat sprays on high heat. Heat the empty pan gently first, then add oil, then food. Burnt-on bits come off after a soak in hot soapy water; do not use steel wool.

Does the 25-year guarantee cover non-stick coatings?

Not in the way most people hope. The guarantees page covers manufacturing faults and defects from normal domestic use, but excludes wear and tear, scratches, discolouration, stains and damage from overheating. A coating that slowly stops releasing food falls into those exclusions. The long guarantee matters most on uncoated steel and enamelled cast iron, where there is nothing to wear off.

Rivals worth a look

  • Le Creuset remains the cast-iron benchmark, with more colours and better resale value at several times the price.
  • Lakeland sells other brands beside its own, a deeper baking range and a three-year satisfaction promise.
  • John Lewis covers similar own-brand cookware with branded rivals on the same shelf to compare.
