Six pieces of Neptune furniture worth the money, from a £329 Lloyd Loom chair to a wire-brushed oak table, with the lead times, delivery charges and guarantee small print to read before you order.

Neptune makes solid oak tables, linen sofas and painted kitchen pieces in an English country style that sits comfortably in a Victorian terrace or a new-build. It suits buyers who want furniture to last twenty years and who can wait a few weeks for it, because a lot of the range is made or painted to order.
This guide picks six pieces from the current UK range, from a £329 dining chair to a three-seater sofa, and one we would leave alone. The headline advice: read the lead time under each finish before you fall for a colour, add the £70 delivery charge to any table or sofa, and remember that painted and made-to-order pieces cannot be returned once the cancellation window has closed.
A trestle-style table in solid, wire-brushed oak that shows off what Neptune does best: plain shapes, honest timber and joinery it is willing to describe.
The Arundel is the table that explains Neptune. It is solid natural oak, wire-brushed to raise the grain, built with mortise-and-tenon joints reinforced with dowel locks, and finished with Neptune’s linseed-oil based IsoGuard. The six-seater is 184cm long and 90cm wide, and it weighs 75kg, so it arrives on Neptune’s own two-person Premium delivery at £70, assembled in the room you choose. Its own product page shows a very high average rating from a few dozen reviews.
The weaknesses are about care and delivery rather than build. IsoGuard is described as short-term protection against spills, so wine and water need wiping straight away, and one Trustpilot reviewer found the top-up treatment hard to apply evenly. Another waited weeks for a table that the courier then lost. Order well before you need it.

Olivia 3 Seater Sofa
A deep-seated, double-arched sofa on turned oak legs and brass castors, with a frame of kiln-dried tulipwood that the lifetime guarantee covers.
The Olivia is Neptune’s most recognisable sofa: a double-arched back, tucked arms and turned oak legs on brass castors. The frame is kiln-dried tulipwood and birch plywood with reinforced halving joints, the seat is serpentine sprung, and the removable seat cushions are feather and fibre-wrapped foam. The three-seater is 202cm wide and 105cm deep. Prices start at £2,995 in cotton velvet, cotton linen or bouclé and rise to £3,495 and up for the linens.
Read the guarantee carefully. The frame and springs are covered for life, but fabric and cushion inners get three years. A recent one-star Trustpilot review came from the owner of a 2016 Olivia whose springs, stitching and fabric had failed after a decade, and who was told it fell outside the newer guarantee. Made-to-order sofas can only be cancelled in the first seven days.

Sheldrake 4 Seater Round Oak Dining Table
The least expensive way into Neptune’s oak tables: a 92cm round top on a lathe-turned central pedestal, with nothing at the corners to knock your knees on.
At £795 the Sheldrake round is the cheapest solid oak dining table in the current range, and it is the one to look at if the kitchen is small. The top is 92cm across, the central support is lathe-turned, and there are height-adjustable glides under the legs for an uneven floor. A pedestal base means chairs slide in anywhere around the edge, which is the real advantage of a round table.
The catch is in the size. Neptune lists it as seating two to four, and 92cm is snug for four plates and a serving dish, so treat it as a table for two that can stretch. The £70 Premium delivery adds nearly a tenth to the price, and like every oak piece here its IsoGuard finish needs spills wiping promptly.

Chichester Freestanding Painted Butchers Block
One of Neptune’s original designs: an end-grain oak chopping block that lifts out of a painted tulipwood base, with a shelf and a soft-close drawer underneath.
Neptune says the Chichester block was one of its first designs, copied from a Georgian piece its founders found in an antique shop. The board is end-grain oak, which is kind to knife edges, and it is reversible, with a juice groove on one side. Board and frame lift out of the painted base for cleaning or serving. Below there is a fixed tongue-and-groove shelf and a drawer on concealed soft-close runners. It is 81cm wide and 86cm high, which suits a kitchen that needs more prep space but not a fitted island.
Most colours are painted to order and delivered in four to five weeks, and once the 28 days before delivery have begun a painted piece cannot be cancelled or returned. That matters, because a Trustpilot reviewer’s Chichester sideboard arrived lighter and a different tone from the swatch. Ask for a painted sample first.

You cook a lot and need more prep space
You may move house and want to take it with you

Havana Lloyd Loom Dining Chair
A Lloyd Loom dining chair with a curved back and a skirted seat, in Driftwood or Charcoal, and the cheapest piece of Neptune furniture in this guide.
Lloyd Loom is kraft paper twisted around steel wire and woven over a frame, and Neptune applies it to a natural rattan frame here. The Havana has a gently curved back, a spacious 46cm-wide seat and a skirt that still leaves room for your legs, and it weighs 7kg, so it is easy to pull out. Glides under the legs protect the floor. It comes in Driftwood or a stained and lacquered Charcoal.
Paper weave has limits. The care notes ask you to mop up spills at once and spot clean with a damp cloth, which is a worry under a toddler. Six chairs come to nearly £2,000 at full price; the current dining offer takes 20% off chairs bought with a table. And standard home delivery is £30 to the doorstep only, with no assembly unless you pay for Premium.

Chichester Double Bed, Painted
A tongue-and-groove headboard with finials, an arched footboard and a sprung slatted base, hand-painted in the eggshell colour of your choice.
The Chichester bed has the panelled look of the Chichester kitchen: a tongue-and-groove headboard framed by finials (removable, with flat ones supplied), an arched footboard that leaves room for storage beneath and Georgian-style legs. The frame is held with mortise-and-tenon joints and the birch slats clip in place. It is designed to sit flush with the mattress for a divan-style fit, and the double is 136cm by 195cm.
Time is the weakness. When we checked, only Shell was listed for delivery in six to seven weeks; every other colour was painted to order with a lead time of ten to eleven weeks. Painted pieces cannot be cancelled once the 28 days before delivery begin, and the Trustpilot complaint about a Chichester piece not matching its swatch applies here too. Pay the extra for the paint service only if you need a specific colour.

Where Neptune wins, and where rivals do
Neptune’s case is materials and after-care. Its dining pages promise solid timber and never MDF or chipboard, the product pages say which joints hold each piece together, and since 2025 the structural parts of its indoor furniture have been guaranteed for life, with repair before replacement. A price promise refunds the difference, as a voucher, if a piece is discounted within twelve months.
Rivals win on speed and on softness. Loaf sells cheerier sofas, often quicker. Heal’s has a wider, more modern choice for similar money. Garden Trading gets the country look for far less, if you do not need it to last a generation. Neptune’s Trustpilot rating is excellent, but its recent one- and two-star reviews are mostly about deliveries running late, couriers failing and emails going unanswered. The furniture is rarely the complaint.
Choosing the right one
1Read the lead time under each finish
Neptune shows availability colour by colour, and the difference is large. On the Chichester double bed, Shell was listed for delivery in six to seven weeks and every other colour in ten to eleven. The butchers block was four to five weeks for most paints. Delivery timescales start only when the last item in your order reaches the warehouse, and Neptune usually ships the whole order together, so one slow piece holds up the rest. Order separately if timing matters.
2Check what cannot be returned
Most stock pieces can go back within 28 days, unused and in the original packaging. Made-to-order upholstery must be cancelled within seven days of ordering, and painted to order pieces at least 28 days before delivery; after that they are yours. Cut fabric is non-returnable too. Even a permitted furniture return is costly: Neptune keeps the delivery charge and charges the same again to collect, unless you refuse it at the door.
3Know what the lifetime guarantee covers
It covers structural parts of indoor furniture: frames, joints, hinges, handles, and the frames and springs of upholstery. Fabric and cushion inners get three years, garden furniture five. It applies only in a private home in the country of purchase, so rented properties and holiday lets are out, and Outlet stock is excluded. Keep the receipt, because there is no registration and the receipt is the proof.
The ones we passed over
Ophelia Small Ottoman, Natural Flag
A handsome oak-framed ottoman with hidden oak trays, but at £1,375 in the woven Natural Flag it costs £200 more than the standard small version, and one Trustpilot owner of an Ophelia in Natural Flag reported the cushion losing shape and knots appearing in the weave within six months. Neptune called it the nature of the fabric, and fabric is only guaranteed for three years. Choose a plainer fabric.

Price promise
If furniture ordered since 28 November 2025 is discounted within 12 months on neptune.com or in a participating store, Neptune pays the difference as a gift voucher. Read October 2026
For the structure, yes, as long as you keep the receipt and the piece stays in a private home in the country where you bought it. It covers frames, joints, hinges, handles and upholstery springs, not fabric or cushions, which get three years. It does not pass to a buyer if you sell the piece, and older furniture bought before the scheme began is not automatically included, as one Olivia owner found this autumn.
How long does Neptune furniture take to arrive?
Stock pieces on the mainland usually arrive within 14 days of reaching Neptune’s warehouse, but painted and made-to-order items take weeks longer: four to five for most colours of the butchers block and ten to eleven for the painted Chichester bed when we checked. The clock starts when the last item in the order arrives, and recent reviews describe delays beyond the quoted times.
Is it worth waiting for a Neptune sale?
Sometimes. When we checked, Neptune was offering 20% off dining chairs and benches bought with any dining table, and the price promise means that if furniture you bought is discounted within 12 months you can claim the difference as a voucher. Neptune Renewed also sells restored ex-display and returned pieces for less, with the lifetime guarantee still attached.
Can I see Neptune furniture before buying?
Yes. Neptune has shops across England, plus Belfast and a handful in France and Germany, and it treats them as the main point of contact for advice. Displays vary, so the site suggests calling ahead to check what a store has. For paint and fabric, order samples: several complaints are about finished colours that looked different from the swatch.
Rivals worth a look
Loaf is the softer, cheerier sofa shop, with more colour, less oak and a lighter guarantee.
Heal’s covers the same price band with a more modern eye and many more designers’ work.
